The thaw is finally here! When a Wisconsin winter begins to turn into spring, there’s one thing everyone has in common- they want to get out of the house! Fortunately, Wisconsin Dells has options galore to satisfy your spring desires.

Things to do in March

Spring Break

You don’t have to book a flight to Mexico or Jamaica to experience an absolutely amazing Spring Break! With all the major Wisconsin Dells resorts in full swing, you can pick an all-inclusive resort to fit your needs. Depending on the school, spring break ranges from March – May, so be sure to check out the exclusive offers they have by clicking on their links!

The Wilderness Resort offers luxurious rooms, villas and condos, all with the availability to participate in their many on-site attractions. Attractions include an indoor and outdoor water parks, zip lines, rope course, golf, laser tag and more. The Chula Vista Resort and Waterpark offers outdoor hot springs, a spa, arcades, indoor and outdoor water parks and more! Kalahari Resort offers specials for both spring break and Easter, all of which you can explore here. Well known for their indoor and outdoor thrill rides, magnificent African décor and indoor and outdoor waterparks, this resort certainly has it all. Indoor golf, an amusement park and fine dining are also available. Rent a bungalow or cabana to make your exotic dreams a reality! The Great Wolf Lodge also offers indoor waterparks, activities, spa, Magiquest, arcade and other attractions.

Wollersheim Winery Open House

On March 5, Wollersheim Winery will host their annual Open House. The festivities include grapevine pruning demonstrations, cooking-with-wine demonstrations and talks from the winemakers themselves. Treat yourself to a self-guided tour that showcases their cellars and fermentation facilities. Wine can of course be purchased so be sure to take home a bottle (or two) of their delicious concoctions to enjoy at home.

Rick Wilcox Magic Theatre

Rick Wilcox Magic Theatre in Wisconsin Dells offers some original and unique fun! Rated five stars by TripAdvisor, this 550-seat theater is open year-round but is perfect for when the weather still remains unpredictable. This show has been around since 1999 and routinely plays to a packed crowd so you know the family-friendly, ever-changing shows are sure to captivate and amaze you!

The Palace Theatre

The Palace Theatre in Wisconsin Dells offers a unique, family-fun theatre experience that you will not soon forget. Featuring a professional production of Broadway musicals, the theatre offers a great option for groups, families, friends and couples. March shows include Cinderella and Always Patsy Cline. Check their calendar for show dates. (If you are visiting in May, shows feature a Echoes of a Legend, a Tribute to Elvis.) Because of the vibrancy of the shows, guests aged two and younger are not allowed so as to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone. Tickets can be purchased for dinner and the show or just the show alone.

Jeremy Allan Grand Illusion Show

The Jeremy Allan’s Grand Illusion Show offers year-round shows starting at 8 pm. With amazing feats and shocking illusions that you can hardly believe are just illusions, Master Magician Jeremy Allen will leave you breathless! Interaction is a must, with requests for several children volunteers in a few child-themed grand illusions! Noted on his website is that Jeremy Allen never performs with ropes, hats, coins, cards or the such — his “wow factor” is the main driving force behind his illusions!

Spas

Sometimes, a vacation just isn’t a vacation with a trip to the spa! Fortunately, Wisconsin Dells has an abundance. At Sundara Inn & Spa, you can stay right there at the 26-arce sanctuary in one of their luxurious suites or simply check in for a day at the spa. Spa Kalahari and Salon is a great one-stop spa for all the treatments, from massage to nails and salon care. Very convenient if you’re already staying there! (A great choice for a resort that has everything at your fingertips!)

If your looking for the full spa experience but want non-resort prices, Spa Serenity is actually a wonderful day spa found nearby in Baraboo, WI, just a short drive from the Dells!

Indoor Water Parks

Still have a hard time separating the association Wisconsin Dells has with water parks? That’s just fine, because despite the still-cool temperatures, the Dells has indoor water parks to enjoy with friends or family in early spring. Sometimes this can be the perfect activity for an otherwise “stuck inside” kind of day! Check out the Kalahari Waterpark Resort, Wilderness Resort, Chula Vista Resort and Waterpark, Great Wolf Lodge and Waterpark, Mt. Olympus Theme and Waterpark, Grand Marquis Waterpark Hotel & Suites or the Polynesian Water Park Resort for some wet and wild times!

Easter

Kalahari Resort

Kalahari Resort offers an Easter Buffet on March 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Adults are $34.00 and children 4-12 are $12.99 with children under 3 free! Trapper’s Turn

Trapper’s Turn will be hosting an Easter Buffet beginning at 9 a.m. featuring all the traditional favorites. Pricing is $34.99 for adults and $14.99 for children 10 and under. Reservations are required and can be secured by calling (608) 253-7000.

Chula Vista

The Chula Vista in Wisconsin Dells will be featuring an Easter brunch as well as a variety of other activities such as egg decorating, an Easter bunny meet and greet, cookie decorating and more. They are still in the planning stage of all the festivities but updates as they are posted can be found on their website by clicking here.

Things to do in April

Downtown Dells

The “strip,” Wisconsin Dells’ iconic downtown district, is an activity all in its own! With great places to stop and eat, souvenir shops galore, candy shops with fresh fudge and freshly made caramel apples and more, the downtown is one area of the Dells that you don’t want to miss, especially before the hustle and bustle of summer arrives! Vintage portrait studios, laser tag, and fun houses are just a few of the amazing attractions that are nestled right into the heart of all the fun. If you can’t quite choose what to do, walking the Downtown Dells should be first on your list of things to check out! Not only will you be able to take in all the unique shops and activities, but tourist booths are set up throughout, eager to help you explore what Wisconsin Dells has to offer. (They sometimes have special discounts for activities that you wouldn’t otherwise know about!)

Amusement Parks

We might be known for our warm weather fun, but don’t think for a minute Wisconsin Dells doesn’t offer your typical thrill rides! For those looking to take part in more of these dry activities, you don’t have to look far. Mt. Olympus Theme Park offers not only outdoor roller coasters and rides, but an indoor theme park too for great spring entertainment. The Kalahari Indoor Theme Park boasts over 100,000 square feet of multi-level fun with countless attractions and activities! April is a great month to choose a place where you can relax indoors while you wait for the summer warmth to arrive! Big Chief Go Karts is also a great idea for the older kids or the kid in you!

Mount Olympus Theme & Water Park

Mount Olympus Theme & Water Park will be throwing a unique Dells Rare Barrel Affair on Saturday, April 16. Come enjoy rare, barrel-aged beers and Wisconsin classic favorites at this festivity! Not only can you enjoy some of Wisconsin’s finest hand-crafted brews, but you can learn about the art as well at this entertaining celebration.

Wisconsin Deer Park

Opening in mid-April, the Wisconsin Deer Park in Wisconsin Dells is a great choice for the animal lover or for those who want to get closer to nature. This attraction has a huge return of previous visitors who can’t wait to see more. Nestled on 28-acres of gorgeous wooded land, you can see tame white-tailed deer (and other wildlife) and even feed and pet them! This attraction is not only fun, but also educational as you learn about the various animals and see them in various cycles of growth and life. Definitely a great choice for families with children!

Ho-Chunk Gaming Casino

Rain or shine, the Wisconsin Dells Ho-Chunk Gaming Casino, now smoke-free, is open for you to try your luck. Not only do they offer everything from standard slot machines to poker, blackjack and everything else you can think of, they feature fine dining and live entertainment by some of today’s biggest stars. Make a night of it by checking into one of the casino’s available hotel rooms and enjoy the fun any of the 24-hours in a day they are open.

Things to do in May

Backpacking and Hiking

Because Wisconsin has so many state and natural areas that are simply picturesque, the draw for backpackers and hikers has been greatly accommodated to. Devil’s Lake State Park and Mirror Lake State Park caters to the hiking enthusiasts and offer trails year-round. Devil’s Lake especially has an abundance of trails for all levels of skill and both offer trails that accommodate pets, strollers and biking. Because they are state parks, a vehicle admission sticker is required.

The iconic Wisconsin Ice Age Trail also runs near Wisconsin Dells. This historic trail borders what is known as the driftless region — a historical tour of where the push and shove from Wisconsin’s last glaciation finally receded, resulting in the topography that draws thousands to Wisconsin every year!

Mid-Continental Railway Museum

Mid-continental Railway Museum will be hosting a special Mother’s Day weekend! Saturday, May 7 you are invited to try their Spring Dinner Train or First Class rides, while Sunday, May 8 (Mother’s Day) they will be offering a scrumptious on-board brunch! Trains depart at 10:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Located near Wisconsin Dells in North Freedom, this historic trail ride and museum tours gives you a very unique experience you will not forget!

Noah’s Ark Water Park

Noah’s Ark Water Park- you know the name because it’s America’s largest waterpark! Opening the weekend of May 28-29, this water park attracts visitors from near and far. Whether you are just up visiting for the weekend or if your a local who wants to take advantage of a season pass, this water park is on the top of everyone’s list for good reason. With countless slides and rides, you won’t leave with regrets. Not only are there water slides and activity pools for the little ones, but group rides and exhilarating rides for the adventure lover are there in plenty. Although dry activities and plenty of lounging areas are available, wet and wild activities are the main feature so be sure to pack your suit and prepare for a day you will never forget!

Automotion

If you will be around Wisconsin Dells May 21-22, we recommend you check out Automotion! Taking place in the parking lot of Noah’s Ark Waterpark, this annual car show draws everyone from the passionate car lovers to the curious. Featuring around 1,200 classic cars, this all day event will certainly get your motor going. Come see the passion that these owners have put into their vehicles or come to browse the swap meet.

Dells Boat Tours

Wisconsin Dells offers a variety of boat rides for you to choose from. April is a great month to experience the renewed river before the summer season settles in thick. As attractions which have stood the test of time, venturing out on one of the many available choices won’t leave you disappointed. Whether it’s the Dells Boat Tours of the upper or lower Dells, the Original Wisconsin Ducks, Jet Boats, Dells Army Ducks or the Ghost Boat, you will enjoy one of these long-standing traditions.
