Cross Country Ski and Snowshoeing Trails

Mirror Lake State Park, just south of Wisconsin Dells, is one of those spectacular areas offering over 20 miles of groomed trails! Mirror Lake State Park and Devil’s Lake State Park are not only located right next to Wisconsin Dells, but also offer year-round camping for those who want to brave the elements. Some tips to make your experience a positive one include:

  • Bring your own local wood or purchase it there at the camp site. Keep it up off the ground and dry at all times! Nothing can dampen your spirits more that the inability to light a crackling fire to warm yourself by!
  • Pack extra (thick) dry socks and wear them in layers. You can’t bring too many. In a pinch, socks can double as mittens when yours are wet.
  • Remove as much snow as possible from the ground before lighting a fire. DO not try and start one on snow as the melting snow or ice will steam your logs and just make it smoke. Building a small platform out of wood to have your fire on helps a ton.
